John spent the early part of his career working for the National environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful helping to further their aim of achieving a sustainable Scotland where people are engaged positively and empowered to take action on local, national and global sustainability issues. During this time John spent a number of years seconded to Perth & Kinross Council tasked with furthering these environmental aims within a local authority setting. John joined Upkeep in 2010, originally recruited to oversee the development of the Upkeep Recycling charity. During this time the project expanded to six retail outlets supporting over 40 volunteers outlining the projects commitment to provide both social and environmental benefits to the local communities.
John was appointed to the role of Operations Manager in 2017 and continues to oversee the development of the organisation and its position within the Shettleston Housing Association Group. John has an honours degree in Politics.
